Pour out your Holy Spirit, the power of your living Word, that those who are washed in the waters of baptism may be given new life.
At First Lutheran we welcome all who are willing to be washed in the waters of baptism. If you are interested in baptism for you or your children, please contact Pastor Bill.
First Communion is a ceremony during which a person first receives the Eucharist. Our church hosts a First Communion class which consists of two Saturday morning gatherings where we share the meaning of the Eucharist, the history, and our Lutheran traditions. Typically kids in 1st and 2nd grade are ready to participate in the class and receive First Communion. Please contact the church office for more information.
Our next First Communion classes are scheduled for: November 5th and 12th from 10:30 to 12:00pm. The First Communion service will take place during the November 20th worship service.
Children’s Sunday School
Sunday school program for children ages three (3) years old to high school classes. Our classes are structured as follows:
- 3 and 4 year olds
- 1st and 2nd grade
- 3rd and 4th grade
- 5th through 8th grade, and
- high school
Our program begins at 9:15 am in the Family Life Center with a large group opening which includes songs and a short lesson. We then transition to class time which concludes at 10:15 am.
The kindergarten through fourth grade students are learning Bible stories using the Holy Moly curriculum. The curriculum allows the students to discover the story, relate the story to themselves and each other, connect the stories to the scripture, and create something tangible to reinforce the lessons they have learned. 3rd Grade Bibles
Our congregation believes strongly in the promises we make in Baptism. One of the ways we do this is providing the Word to our young people. Each October we provide Bibles to our 3rd grade youth during a Sunday worship service. We encourage kids to use these Bibles, especially for their Sunday school class and during Confirmation.
Confirmation is a three year instructional program that prepares junior high youth to publicly affirm the faith of the Church, the faith into which they were baptized. This program is for sixth through eighth graders.
Our Confirmation classes all take place on Wednesday evenings September thru April from 7:00pm to 8:15pm. Confirmation includes attending class weekly, two retreats (Fall and Spring), serving as an acolyte, volunteer service, summer camp at Stony Lake Lutheran Camp, and all 3rd year students are assigned an adult mentor.
All of the classes begin by meeting in the Gallery and then break off into small groups. For more information on Confirmation, please contact Pastor Bill or Ed Wosinski.
